SYSTEM D-128 | Distortion Tones
Video still from “Distortion Tones”
Distortion Tones is a collection of raw video colors and textures created by synthesized analog signals, television experiments, feedback, interferences, satellite errors and envelope echoes. Some distortions are created through mood exchanges. This is a process that utilizes spun-on strips of videotape, tuners and aluminum foil antennas to generate imagery.
Plug in a random machine found on the side of the street. A machine with a yellow RCA video output, knobs and switches to control contrast, roll, base, edge and bend colors. You find unconventional layers of pictures in motion through the master recording that caught the beautiful blurs and shapes before they could conform to the eye’s standard. In Distortion Tones, these layers uncovered and brought to life.
